Mario Marino, 82, of New Springville, Staten Island passed away peacefully on June 29, 2022. He was the beloved Husband of Marie Marino, beloved Father of Celeste Garcia and Marie Conte and beloved and devoted Grandfather of Nicholas and Sabrina Conte. Mario was preceded in death by his son in law Cesar Garcia and his parents Pasquale and Celeste Marino. He was one of 7 children and had five brothers and one sister. Mario was born in Ottati, Italy. He came to the United States in 1966 at the age of 26. He fell in love with the girl next door and was married shortly after. He lived in Brooklyn, NY for over 30 years. He worked in construction and then went on to work at Fort Hamilton High School as a Chief Custodian Engineer. He moved to Staten Island in 1999 and retired at the age of 62. He lived the remainder of his years as a loving and doting husband, father and grandfather. Mario was extremely handy and a true Mr. Fix-It. There was no task too great and he knew how to do and fix anything that came his way. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He never hesitated to do anything for them whether it was taking his Grandson to baseball or his Granddaughter to dance class. Mario enjoyed gardening, playing poker or Uno with his brother and sister in laws in their Brooklyn homes, playing his hand held slot/poker games and watching his favorite tv shows. He enjoyed watching all sports, and for most part was impartial and just enjoyed a good game. He was a quiet man with the biggest heart and a sensitive side that was rarely seen but always felt. Many have said he had the best smile, filled with warmth and a joyful laugh. Mario will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
