Marie C. Lukas

Marie Lukas, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, at the age of 84.  Born October 28, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York, Marie lived a life defined by love for her family and kindness to all who knew her.

 

Marie shared a remarkable 61-year marriage with her beloved husband, Frank Lukas.  Together they built a strong and loving family and a lifetime of cherished memories.  She was a proud and loving mother to her children, Frank, Marie and Lisa, and a devoted grandmother to Chris and Marie, who brought her endless joy.

 

Before getting married, Marie was the first female head teller at Manufacturer Hanover Bank on 49th Street and 13th Avenue in Brooklyn.

 

She made her home in Staten Island, New York, and had a deep love for animals.  Marie was a proud pet parent to many beloved dogs and cats over the years, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

 

Marie was preceded in death by her brother, John and her sister, Rose, and by her beloved daughter, Marie, who tragically lost her life in the September 11th attacks.  Despite life's hardships, Marie remained a source of strength, compassion, and unwavering love for her family.

 

She will be remembered for her quiet strength, gentle kindness, and the deep devotion she showed to those she loved.  Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished and the lives she touched.

 

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Matthew Funeral Home.  A burial service will take place on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 11:00 am, at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn.  

 

Marie's memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
