Obituary of Louise "Jean" Cortese

Louise "Jean" Cortese (née Gargano), age 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 13, 2018. Predeceased by her husband Vincent Cortese. She was the loving mother of Joanne McShane-Green, Thomas Cortese and his wife Ginny, Susan Cortese and Peter Cortese and his wife Helene. Cherished grandmother of Jennifer Calcagno, Michael Cortese, Joseph Cortese, Olga Cortese, Hunter Cortese and Hannah Cortese. Loving sister to Theresa Sarlo and her husband Mickey. Jean was born in Brooklyn in 1931. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and caring for her family. Jean was an avid bingo player and enjoyed trips to Atlantic City. She enjoyed baking- strufoli being her families favorite, crocheting, crossword puzzles, reading and music. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., on Thursday, departing 9:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's RC Church at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 9 pm.
