Obituary of Barbara A. Adler

Barbara A. Adler, a spirited artist and devoted wife, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the age of 83. Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Abraham and Rose Turetsky, Barbara was raised alongside her beloved siblings, Shelly and Steve, in a family that cherished creativity and connection.

Barbara attended Brooklyn College, where she began to cultivate her passion for art. Her diverse and vibrant portfolio reflected her mastery across multiple mediums. Early in her career, she worked at a bank, taught art to eager students, and continually expanded her artistic collection. Her adventurous spirit later led her to travel the world with her husband, Don F. Adler, creating unforgettable memories while immersing themselves in the cultures of Hong Kong, England, Italy, and beyond.

Barbara’s artistic achievements were widely recognized. She earned numerous awards and was featured in the Who’s Who Book, the Staten Island Advance, and the Staten Island Art Museum. Her exquisite work found a home in art exhibitions in SoHo, where collectors eagerly sought her timeless creations.

Beyond her art, Barbara found her greatest joy in her family. She was a devoted mother to her two sons, Eric and Michael, and a loving mother-in-law to their wives, Carren and Joanna. She adored her five grandchildren—Laurie, Audra, Sean, Alexandra, and Jonathan—sharing her wisdom, warmth, and creativity with each of them.

Barbara lived a life full of passion and adventure. She was an avid traveler, a skilled Mahjong player, and a voracious reader. She delighted in designing unique and meaningful pieces of art that left a lasting impression on all who encountered them. Barbara was also a proud Rangers fan and a Food Network enthusiast, embracing every moment with energy and enthusiasm.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and artist, Barbara touched the lives of everyone she met. Her legacy is one of love, creativity, and boundless curiosity. She will be deeply missed but will continue to inspire generations to pursue their passions and embrace the beauty of life.
