Obituary of Jean Brennan
Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Jean Brennan, 91, passed peacefully in her sleep on January 11, 2025. Jean, a native Staten Islander, was born on April Fool's Day in 1933 to her parents, Ruth and Harold Crimmins. She had many brothers and sisters and maintained close relationships with her siblings and her nieces and nephews throughout her life. Jean graduated from Port Richmond High School and soon fell in love and married her husband, Edward "Sonny" Brennan. The couple bought a home in Willowbrook and had four children. In 1969, Jean lost her beloved husband, Edward to lung cancer. She then began working as a secretary in Manhattan and later worked in CVS for many years before retiring. Known as "Mamie" to her grandchildren, she was a devoted and loving grandmother. Jean loved celebrating holidays and birthdays with her extended family and seeing her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time outdoors as well as meeting with friends for bingo and trips to Atlantic City. She was known for her strength and kindness, as her home was always open to family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, and her sons, Jeffrey and Edward. Jean is survived by her children, Dianne Horning (Thomas) and Steven, grandchildren, Jeffrey and Kristy (Stephen), and great-grandchildren Luke, Emily, Quinn and Avery. She will always be loved and remembered by her brother, Vincent Crimmins (Patricia) and many nieces and nephews. Visitation services will be held at Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd, Staten Island, NY on Tuesday, January 14 from 4:00-8:00pm. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Church, 366 Watchogue Rd, Staten Island, NY on Wednesday, January 15th at 10:30 am.
