Obituary of Jose A. Tacoronte

Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Jose Tacoronte 73, passed away peacefully in his sleep January 13th, 2025.

Jose was born in the Bronx on August 16th, 1951, to Ramona and Salvador Tacoronte. Jose was one of five siblings who had previously passed away.

Jose graduated from Ralph R. McKee Vocational and Technical High School for electrical courses. After graduation he joined IBEW Loc #3 as an apprentice. Upon completion of his apprenticeship, he became a journeyman.

Known as Pop Pop to his grandchildren he was a devoted and loving grandfather, often taking naps with his grandchildren on his chest.

Jose loved the outdoors and woods, going often to P.A. where he had a vacation property. As a boy from the Bronx, he loved his home which faced the woods and had a pool that was his pride and joy. He was also an avid car enthusiast repairing and remodeling cars. He was a good friend to those he called friends and was known for his crazy sense of humor.

Jose is survived by his wife Laurinda Prieto of 50 years and his children, Joseph, Vanessa, and Lauryn. Also, his grandchildren Roman, Julieviolet, and Sofia.

Visitation services will be held on Friday January 18th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Matthew Funeral Home 2508 Victory Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10314.
