Sal, it was an honor to serve with you. Truly, a warrior for your nation through and through. Never has a Sailor been more excited to earn their qualifications to protect their brethren and country. I remember our conversations on deployment, about how you wanted to get another jar of a la vodka sauce when you got back, about your dreams and aspirations post Navy, about your friends on board. You showed so many what a team player truly is. We talked about your family that you were so proud to support and defend them. So many conversations through our various watches, I was blessed to learn so much from you. Thank you, Sal. Fair winds and following seas, we have the watch.

Thank you so much for this tribute to Sal. We read it during his funeral mass - as it was part of his Eulogy. We were so comforted by the words of all of your fellow shipmates who took the time to write a message here, to share pictures and stories. Some even came for our final goodbye. Thank you and all of your breather for your service. We will never forget.

Sal, its been a honor to serve with you. Good and bad times we surely made it on board the Murphy, we had conversations during duty days and I know you have some struggles but i see you made it and your smile proves that you are good to go!! Sal God bless you, i really wish i was there for you, and along the crew that supports you. It breaks our hearts so much. Your a good person and with good heart. Sal, words cannot describe how much I wish I could pick up the phone right now and FaceTime you for hours even though you were in Arizona this last few months you made it seem like you were still only a few minutes away at uncle Kevin or Greg’s house. I will never forget the many memories we have together since we were children you will forever live in my heart my brother I love and miss you… Rest in peace Sal.. Rest in Peace, Sal. Although we didn't know each other as well as we might have hoped, I want everyone to know how dedicated you were to your work and how you could make everyone laugh every day. You were an amazing sailor and it was such a honor to serve with you. You were my Petty Officer of the Watch more often than not on duty days and you always bade those long watches much more bearable. Always cracking jokes and deep conversations to make sure we didn’t fall asleep at the quarter deck. Thank you for standing watch with me. You will be greatly missed.

Sal was a beautiful human: kind, helpful, caring with a great sense of humor. He had a contagious laugh and was always ready to have some fun. He had so much life ahead and adventures now unfulfilled. This is a great loss to our family, he is deeply missed.
