Obituary of Salvatore A. Cioffi

In Loving Memory of Salvatore A. Cioffi

July 6, 1994 - January 24, 2025

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my beloved son, Sal, who passed away on January 24, 2025.

Born on July 6, 1994, Sal brought the biggest smiles to our family and friends. As a youth he continued to bring joy and happiness to everyone around him as he had an inherent kindness, was warm, loveable, and funny, with a quick wit. He grew up in Richmondtown, and attended St. Peter's Boys High School, graduating in 2012. Later, he attended SUNY Empire State College, Staten Island, NY. During his time as a student, he also volunteered as an Auxiliary Police Officer for several years, a position he was very proud of.

He was employed by our family's business, Ace Auto Salvage, for several years. He enlisted in the United States Navy in October of 2019, proudly serving our country for 4 years. While serving, Sal worked as an Operations Specialist and was stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He took every opportunity to learn as much as he could, and received numerous certifications, medals and awards including, the Battle "E" Award, Sea Service Deployment Recognition and Global War on Terrorism Recognition.

A native Staten Islander, Sal re-located to Arizona after his Tour of Duty with the Navy. He loved the warm, drier climate.

During his teen and young adult years, Sal enjoyed spending time with his family and was very close to his first and second cousins, all his extended family, and a circle of special friends. He was a respectful, sensitive, kind and caring adult. He enjoyed watching football, live music, sporting events, reading, video games, cooking, family barbecues, Mom's chicken cutlets and Grandma's lasagna.

Sal is survived by his mother, Sandra Cioffi, grandmother, Dorothy Olsen, Aunt Kerri Gerson (Gregg), Uncle Kevin Cioffi (Andrea), many first and second cousins, great aunts and uncles, and his sweetheart, Danielle. His grandfather, Salvatore Cioffi, Jr., passed away on October 24, 2021. Sal loved and admired him deeply.

He will be forever missed and will be held in our hearts forever.

Family and friends may visit the Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd. Staten Island, NY on Tuesday 2/4 from 2-5 and 7-9 PM. Funeral departing at 9:15AM on Wednesday 2/5 with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel at 10AM. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
