Obituary of Christa M. Gutheil
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Christa Gutheil, beloved mother, Oma, and cherished friend, who peacefully left us on February 9th. Christa was born in Bremen, Germany, and in 1957, married her loving husband Horst, who predeceased her. Together they moved their family in 1962 from Germany to New York, and later to Westerleigh, Staten Island in 1972.
Christa is survived by her son Peter (married to Denise) and Thomas (predeceased), and her grandchildren, Kimberly and Nicholas. The loves of her life. She was the last surviving sibling of eight children.
A devoted homemaker, Christa found joy in many things. She was an avid gardener and loved creating beautiful cards. Over the years she had a deep love for all of her dogs in her life. In her younger years, Christa enjoyed camping and traveling, exploring new places with her family.
Christa was an active dedicated member of Zion Lutheran Church. Her kindness, strength, and love will be missed by all who knew her.
A private funeral service will be held for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Christa’s memory.
