Obituary of Annette M. Tormey

Lifelong Staten Island resident Annette M. Tormey (nee Conti), 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. Born and raised in Mariners Harbor, Annette was the daughter of the late Santo and Rosaria Conti. She was predeceased by her brothers Joseph (Carmella) and Peter, as well as her sister Grace Pately (Ted).

 Annette was the beloved wife of the late Joseph L. Tormey Jr. and a loving mother to Joseph (Lan Chi), Michael (Lizette), Lynda, Teresa, and the late Patricia. She was also a cherished grandmother to Joseph, Michael, Chloe, and Ryan, and a proud great-grandmother to Emma.

A graduate of Port Richmond High School, Annette worked at Dominick and Dominick in NYC until the birth of her first child. Family was her greatest joy. Annette loved spending time with her loved ones, going on vacations, cooking meals, or just simply socializing with friends. She was also an avid fan of crossword puzzles.

A woman of unwavering faith, Annette was a lifelong parishioner of St. Clement - St. Michael’s RC Church in Staten Island, where she found strength and solace throughout her life. Annette was known for her strong faith and positive outlook on life.

 In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to St. Clement - St. Michael’s RC Church, 207 Harbor Rd, Staten Island, NY 10303. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Family and friends may visit the Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10314 on Monday 2/17 from 2-6 PM.  Funeral departing on Tuesday at 9:30 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael’s Church at 10:15 AM.  Interment to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
