Obituary of Rawhia "Angel" Wanas

Rawhia “Angel” Wanas of Staten Island, New York passed away on 02/24/2025.  Angel was 88 years old and survived by her daughters Nevine (Khaled) Aziz and Hanan Garas; her grandchildren: Steven (Nah Nah) Aziz, Angela Garas (Mina Bekhit), Alexandra Aziz, Matthew Garas and Jonathan Garas; her brother Al Garas; her sister Ekbal Garas; and loving nieces and nephew. Her only great granddaughter, Layla, brought her much joy and happiness.  

Angel was predeceased by her husband Wagih and brothers Anise, Nabil and Emile.

Angel retired from Barclays Bank and enjoyed sewing, gardening and making her trademark pasta for her grandchildren! Her sense of humor and easy-going spirit made her a joy to be around, especially during holiday gatherings and family vacations.  She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. 

Family and friends may visit the Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd. on Thursday 2/27 from 3-7 PM.  A service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 10 AM with interment to follow at Oceanview Cemetery.
