Obituary of Georgina Grande
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Georgina Grande, 80, of Staten Island, New York. Georgina was born in Pireaus, Greece on April 27, 1944. At the age of 2 years old her family migrated to Brooklyn, NY. Shortly after moving to America, her father Pantelis tragically passed away. This pulled the 7 siblings to come together to not only provide for each other, but also their beautiful mother Asimina. This created an everlasting tight bond that got them through all their trials in life. Georgina was the loving wife of Edmund C. Grande. They were a couple larger than life, they never had children of their own, but they raised and treated their nephews and nieces as their own. Gina spent the last 39 years of her life living with her sister Vasilike (Betty) and Dionysios (Danny) Zougras, where she also became a 2nd mother to her 3 nephews Demetrious (Jimmy), Peter and Anthony. Gina's most meaningful joys were her love for family and friends, oldies music and she also loved dancing. Gina was an amazing cook and baker. A loving daughter, sister, God mother, Aunt and friend. Her laugh was infectious, and her eyes twinkled with merriment, endearing her to those who knew her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Gina is survived by her sisters, Alice Abbio, Kassandra Divilio and Vasilike Zougras, her sisters in law Suzanna Hionas and Maryann Gordon. In addition to her husband Edmund, she was preceded in death by her sisters Despina (Jimmy) Amentas, Anna (Harry) Millan, brother Steve Hionas , brothers in law Dionysios Zougras, Carlo Abbio and Nicola Divilio.
