Obituary of Robert A. Burnett

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Burnett, who left us on March 11, 2025, at the age of 77. Bob faced a series of health challenges with remarkable strength and resilience, inspiring those around him with his fortitude.

Bob was a man of profound insight and understanding, traits that he skillfully applied throughout his life. He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War, holding the rank of Army MP Sergeant. His dedication to service continued as he embarked on a career with MTA Bridges & Tunnels, where he retired as a Sergeant in 1999.

Beyond his professional achievements, Bob was a man of diverse interests and passions. He was an avid sports fan, always cheering for his favorite teams with enthusiasm. His love for movies, books, and music enriched his life and brought joy to those who shared these interests with him.

Bob was the only child of Robert and Margaret Burnett, but his life was filled with the warmth of a large and loving family. A devoted husband to Rita, they created a beautiful life together. Bob was the loving father of Michael and Patrick, and a father to Leonardo, Elliott, and Adam, each of whom carries a piece of his spirit forward.

Bob embraced his role as a father-in-law to Kat, Linda, Dana, and Melissa, welcoming them into the family with open arms. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren, Devin, Ethan, Ryan, Isaiah, Justin, Jade, Aiden, Luke, Samira, Alexander, Mason, Cole, Jett, and Jacob, and great-grandchildren Grayson and Hazel. He was predeceased by his beloved grandson, Armand. We will forever cherish all the wonderful memories.

After the  celebration of his life at Matthew Funeral Home, a private crematin will follow:
