Obituary of Dorothy Virginia Formica

Dorothy Virginia Formica (Boroughs) September 19, 1927- March 11, 2025 Dorothy passed peacefully in her sleep at the age of 97 at Tidewell Hospice Home of Lakewood Ranch, FL on March 11,2025 with loved ones at her side. Devoted, loving mother to Robert WIle and Deborah Caruso-Apter (Andreas), Grandmother to Robert D. Wile (Gabrielle), Elizabeth Wile and Derek WIle (Lorraine), Jessica Espinoza (Ryan), DIana Jenkins (Daniel) & Derrick Apter (Erin). Great-Grandmother to Jackson, Milena, Bennett, Max, Olivia, Zephyr and Atticus. She is preceded in death by her mother and father Cora Boroughs (Cottrell) and Robert Boroughs as well as her siblings Donald Boroughs, Gwendolyn Norton (Boroughs), Robert Boroughs and Douglass Boroughs. Dorothy, known to many as Dotty, was born in Staten Island, NY on September 19, 1927. After graduating from Port Richmond High School she worked for Procter & Gamble at its Port Ivory factory on Staten Island as well as for Bell Telephone in Manhattan before starting her family. She loved to cook and was an accomplished artist. Many described her as spunky and fiercely independent. Visitation is at Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd, Staten Island, NY on Sunday, March 16 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Catholic Mass will be said at Sacred Heart Church on Castleton Ave on Monday March 17 at 11:00am.
