Obituary of Anthony P. Barone
Anthony P. Barone died Monday March 17, 2025. He was born on Staten Island and was the youngest child of Domenico and Cristina Barone. His parents, as well as his brother, Peter and sister Marie Pirozzolo immigrated to Staten Island from Vinchiaturo, Italy. He grew up on Stanley Avenue in New Brighton, attended Curtis High School and Fordham University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in History. He continued his studies at Fordham Law School where he earned his Juris Doctorate in 1962.
He began a law practice on Staten Island and founded Regency Abstract, Inc. He met his wife Nancy on a blind date at a New Year’s Eve party, they were married in 1964 and celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in July. They had two children, Domenick and Toni Ann, who continue the legacies of the businesses he created. Domenick continues to operate the title insurance company and Toni Ann, runs the law firm, where she became his partner in 2003.
He served the Staten Island community as a member and President of the Staten Island Leukemia Association, member of the Richmond County Democratic Club and as a member and President of the Richmond County Bar Association. He will be most remembered as Coach by his softball team of attorneys and judges, the Barristers, which he formed in 1977. He formed long lasting friendships with so many of his colleagues and their families. Through the practice of law, he had, not only profession relationships with his colleagues, but also personal ones.
He enjoyed international travel, the company of friends and spending time with his family. He was very proud of his grandchildren and loved playing tricks on them. His friends and family will never forget his quick wit, jokes and his willingness to assist others.
He is survived by his wife Nancy (nèe Ferarra), his son Domenick and daughter in law Kim, daughter Toni Ann and son in law Gerard Franciosa, four grandchildren, Cristina, Giovanna, Francesca and Antonio, as well as a great grandson Giancarlo. He is also survived by his sister in law and brother in law Diane and Thomas Lombardi and many nieces and nephews.
