Obituary of Alfonso A. Scala
Alfonso Scala 93 passed away on March 19, 2025 peacefully with his children at his bedside. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy as well as his daughter RoseAnn Scala. He is survived by his daughters, Donna Barisciano (Robert), Debra Creighton (Richard), and his son Louis Scala (Wendy). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Alfonso was born in Brooklyn and married his high school sweetheart. He was married for 58 years before his beloved wife passed away. His passion was baseball. Alfonso also loved and was a master at crossword puzzles. He was scouted for the Philadelphia Athletics but then drafted to serve in the United States Army. He was in the 82nd Airborne division for the Korean War. He was a member of the NYPD for 20 years in Harlem and in Brooklyn and after he retired, he drove a school bus for Atlantic express. He enjoyed spending his time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as with his daughters and son.
The visitation will be at Matthew Funeral Home on Sunday, March 23rd from 2-7pm and Monday March 24th at Blessed Sacrament Church at 11:00am.
