Obituary of Eunice L. Hill

Eunice Hill, formerly Mattu, (nee Carty), 80, passed away on March 21, 2025.  She was predeceased by her husband Herman.  She is survived by her sisters, Helene Gumbs and Nina Bell, her brothers Oger (Oh-Jay) Arrindell, Eddie Gumbs, and Elvis Gumbs, her children Eunice (Adam) Dietz,  Robert Mattu Jr., and Susan (Michael) Luciano, her beloved grandchildren Caitlin Dietz,  Maya Luciano, Evan Luciano, and many numerous nieces and nephews.

Eunice had a passion for food and enjoyed nothing more than cooking for her family.   The more people around the table, the better.  She was an avid gardener and could grow anything.   She also enjoyed all types of crafting and loved decorating for every holiday. 

She was a dedicated employee at the old Holiday Inn on Staten Island.  Her final position was as Assistant Housekeeper. 

The visitation will be at Matthew Funeral Home on Sunday March 23 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church on Monday at 10:00 am, with burial to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
