Obituary of Mary Fuca

Mary Fuca, 97, passed away on April 7, 2025.  She was the devoted wife of the late Nicholas; beloved mother of Maryann Olear (Frank) and Joyce Falco (Salvatore); dear grandmother of Stephen Olear (Nicole), Cheryl Olear-Pawlowski (John) and Judy Olear- Smith; devoted great-grandmother of Andrew, Elizabeth, Emma, John, Noah and Vera; dear sister of Benny Malvinni, Katherine Circincione and Joseph Malvinni; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Mary was a graduate of Curtis High School and lived in West Brighton all her life.  She was a retired paraprofessional for the New York City Board of Education at I.S. 61.  Mrs. Fuca was a member of the Altar Rosary Society at Sacred Heart Parish and a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club since 1984.  Mary was a lifetime member of the Deborah Hospital Foundation and the West Brighton Senior Center.  She was a long-time fan of the NY Yankees and never missed a game on TV.

Mary was the happiest when spending time with her family and friends.  Together with her family and friends, she enjoyed traveling, bus rides to Atlantic City, and going to dinner and the theater.

Mrs. Fuca never learned to drive and walked throughout the neighborhood with her best friend Marie Kaczmarek (deceased 2009) who she has missed terribly to this day.  She will be forever grateful to Audrey Batz for always being there for her.

Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday, departing at 10:15 AM.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart R.C. Church at 11:00 AM.  Interment to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.  Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
