Obituary of Joseph J. Falabella, Jr.

Joseph J. Falabella Jr., a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, at the age of 83.

Joseph was born on January 6, 1942, at Norwegian Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, to Joseph and Mariann Falabella, and would go on to live a life full of love, laughter, and quiet wisdom. A graduate of New York University's School of Business, he began his career in accounting with private firms and later established himself as an independent accountant, working with a variety of companies throughout his career.

In 1964, Joe married the love of his life, Marie Giavanna Re, whom he met at the end of high school and beginning of college. Their 60-year marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they raised two children, Gregory Joseph Falabella (Catherine) and Carol Marie Hofmann (Kyle), who carry forward his legacy of warmth, humor, and deep family values. Having resided in Brooklyn until 1970, Joe and his family moved to Staten Island, where he spent the remainder of his life surrounded by the people he loved most.

In addition to his wife and children, Joe is survived by his grandsons, Kyle Eric Hofmann Jr. (Bianca) and Christian Robert Hofmann, both of whom he adored and took great pride in.

Joe found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was a lifelong fan of Star Trek and Gunsmoke, enjoyed playing golf, and always kept an eye on the stock market. He cherished Sunday family dinners, moments filled with conversation, laughter, and the warmth of togetherness. He especially enjoyed walking Casper, the Hofmann family’s late beloved dog.

Joe loved traveling with his wife and his daughter’s family—exploring Italy, France, Britain, and Greece, as well as Walt Disney World and numerous National Parks across the United States. Their vacation home in Mattituck, Long Island, served as a lifelong retreat where many treasured memories were made with his children and grandchildren.

Joe will be remembered for his warm heart, sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed.
