Obituary of Frances T. Incontro
Frances was born on February 25, 1924, in Brooklyn, New York, 101 years ago. She passed peacefully on April 23 after a long, full life.
Frances grew up in Brooklyn where she graduated from Manual High School. She went on to become a comptometer operator and retired after 30 plus years as a bookkeeper for the international accounting firm KPMG. Along with working full time once her children were all in school, she was a great creative cook who passed down many wonderful Italian recipes that have now been turned into a cookbook. Frances also loved to sew, crochet, embroider, needle point, and cross stitch. She created beautiful wall hangings, tablecloths and welcome baby blankets for all her family and friends, also crocheting scarves for many years for the Special Olympics Scarf Project. She and her beloved husband, Salvatore, who passed in 1998 , loved to travel and made many trips to Europe, especially Sicily where they visited extended family. Frances lived on Staten Island for over 62 years where they spent many years entertaining and spending time with their growing family. Frances passed on in the house she and Sal had constructed in 1963, a year prior to the opening of the Verrazzano Bridge. The family was blessed to be able to keep her at her home and gather around her on her last days.
Frances leaves behind her three children: sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Christine Incontro and Salvatore and Carlet Incontro and daughter and son-in-law, Seraphine and Gene Allen; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
