Obituary of Sebastian A. Serpico

November 16, 1956 – April 24, 2025

Sebastian Serpico, a resident of Staten Island since 1985, passed away on April 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 70 years old.  Born in Brooklyn on November 16, 1956, Sebastian was one of five children of the late John R. Serpico and Antoinette Serpico. After beginning his career with Verizon and Bell Labs, he later pursued his passion for working outdoors as a landscaper in Staten Island. Known for his jovial spirit, quick wit, and gift for storytelling, Sebastian was loved and admired by family, friends, co-workers, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
 

Sebastian cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved a good round of golf, delicious food, and any opportunity to share a laugh or a story. His warmth, humor, and kindness left an indelible mark on everyone he met.

                                                          
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mildred Serpico; his two children, Sebastian Serpico and Marielle Serpico; and his five treasured grandchildren, Ralphie, Essie, Ruby, Rosalie, and Jameson. He is also survived by his brother, John Serpico; his sisters, Maddalena Lavoro and Ann Marie Kern; his sisters-in-law, Joanne Fader and Joanne Gonzalez and his brother-in-law, Paul Lavoro.

Sebastian’s strength, love, and joyful spirit will be remembered always by his family and friends. The family asks that donations be made to the CLL Society at cllsociety.org

A wake will be held at the Matthews Funeral Home on Monday, April 28, 2025 (4-8pm) located at 2508 Victory Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10314.  There will be a funeral mass at the Holy Family Church on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 located at 366 Watchogue Road, Staten Island, NY 10314.
