Obituary of Peter Keith Gonzalez

Peter Keith “Petey” Gonzalez, 49, of Brooklyn, NY, passed away on April 24, 2025, in Syracuse, NY.

Born on December 20, 1975, in Brooklyn, Pete was the beloved son of Peter Gonzalez Jr. and Diane La Forte. He attended Hightstown High School and built a successful career in the Food Service Industry, becoming a Manager at multiple TGI Friday’s locations before serving as Restaurant Manager at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Syracuse, NY.

Pete is survived by his cherished sons, Peter Emmanuel and Antonio Joshua Gonzalez; his former wife and dear friend, Eliana “Sheree” Gonzalez; his stepmother, Marlene Gonzalez; his stepfather, Joseph Mancuso; his siblings, Lance X. and Michelle Gonzalez, Frank Mancuso, Theresa LaForte, and Marisol and Gorki De Los Santos; his nieces, Lyla Grace and Alicia Marian De Los Santos, and Samantha Blanchette and his nephew, Nicholas Blanchette.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 30, at Matthew Funeral Home in Staten Island, NY from 2-5 and 7-9 PM with a service at 7:15 PM. On Thursday, May 1, departing at 10:15AM, the family will escort Pete to Rosehill Crematory in Linden, NJ. His final resting place will be at Moravian Cemetery on Staten Island, NY, in the same mausoleum as his father, Peter Gonzalez Jr.

Through every season of life, Pete carried humor in his pocket and love in his heart. His quick wit could light up even the darkest day, and his strength in battling diabetes inspired all who knew him. Pete took the most pride in raising his sons, nurturing a strong friendship with their mother, and committing his heart to God through his baptism at Joy Fellowship in the Bronx, NY. In his final days, Pete prayed that his sons would always feel his unwavering love, continue to chase their dreams, and never forget to laugh.

Leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and laughter, Pete hoped everyone who knew him would honor his memory by finding joy every day and sharing a smile whenever they could.
