Obituary of Janet M. Mizialek

Janet Mizialek, 69, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, cradled in the love of her family. A beloved wife, sister, daughter, aunt, great-aunt, and friend, Janet was a quiet light in the lives of many and will be remembered for the grace with which she moved through the world. Born on September 22, 1955, in Staten Island, New York, to Viola Iatauro and William Edwards, Janet embraced life with a kind heart and a thoughtful spirit. She devoted her professional life to caring for others as a nurse practitioner, offering comfort, expertise, and kindness to countless patients over the years. Her commitment to healing extended far beyond her work—it was simply part of who she was. Janet found joy in simple pleasures, especially visiting her beach house, exploring local parks, attending concerts with her husband Jonathan, and spending quality time with her family. Whether surrounded by nature, music, or loved ones, she cherished those moments of peace, laughter, and connection. Her laughter was gentle, her advice wise, and her love unwavering. Janet is survived by her loving husband, Jonathan Mizialek; her dear brothers, William Edwards, Robert Edwards, and Randy Edwards Sr ; sisters in-law Margaret Edwards, Donna Edwards and Josephine Edwards, her nephews Christopher Edwards, Brian Edwards, Randy Edwards Jr., and Steven Edwards; her nieces Sarah Edwards and Jessica Edwards; her great nephews Alexander, Harrison, and Emilio; and her great-nieces Madelyn, Olivia, Sienna, Avery, Guilianna, Wynter, and Penelope. Each of them carries forward a part of her warmth, humor, and compassionate spirit. A viewing will be held on May 7th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10314. A Funeral Mass will follow on May 8th at 10:00 AM at Saint Adalbert Roman Catholic Church, 25 St. Adalbert Place. Janet will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. Though Janet's hands are now at rest, her love remains, like sunlight through leaves— gentle, steady, and always shining.
