Obituary of Filomena T. Marro

Filomena Teresa Marro (nee Martorano), 85, of Staten Island, NY passed away on May 13th, 2025.  She was the loving husband of Dominic J Marro for 63 years, the beloved mother of her daughter Anna Maria Musante and husband Marc, her daughter Lucy and husband Julian, and the beloved grandmother of her greatest treasures, her grandchildren Christopher, Robert and fiancé Antoinette, Julian, Melissa, Christian, Jacqueline and Stefan.

Filomena was pre-deceased by her parents, Felice and Anna Martorano, and her sister Rose Wagner.  She is survived by her sister Lucy Martorano and brother Joseph Martorano.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who adored her and passed along many of their stories about “crazy Aunt Fanny”.

Filomena was born in San Martino D’Agri, Basilicata, Italy.  She came to the Untied States with her family at the age of 16 and America was never the same.  Filomena loved to cook and expressed her love through her cooking (as every good Italian mother should).  She also loved gardening, playing cards, and she loved her bread.  However, anyone who knew her knew that there was nothing she loved more than spending time with her family, which she did as often as she could.  She was a woman who loved life and was always the center of any and all parties. joking, dancing and singing (off key).  She was also a very warm and loving person who always had kind and uplifting words for anyone she encountered.  She truly leaves her family and friends with so many wonderful memories “which nobody could forgot”.

Viewing will be at Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Boulevard, Staten Island, NY on Sunday, May 18th, 2025, from 2pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm.  Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Pity Church, 1616 Richmond Avenue, Staten Island, NY at 10:30 am on Monday, May 19th.  Interment will be at The Cemetery of the Resurrection, 361 Sharrott Avenue, Staten Island, NY.
