Obituary of Gabriel Santiago

Gabriel Santiago (Javier) of Bulls Head, passed away on May 15th, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Rose Santiago for 66 Years. The loving father of Beverly Carragher and her husband, Robert, and Rose Ann Bishop and her husband, Carlos. Cherished grandfather of Christopher LaSanta, Miranda Bishop, Kaitlyn Carragher, and Haley Bishop DaSilva. Gabriel was also the Great Grandfather of Jasper and Lucas.

Javier was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico and eventually moved to New York, where he began his thriving businesses - “Javier's Discount Stores” on Smith Street in Brooklyn. He was a pillar of the community, serving as President of the Lions Club and many other civic community organizations.

Javier loved riding his motorcycle, taking long road trips with his family, sailing on his boat and visiting his beloved island of Puerto Rico. Javier was the life of the party - always telling jokes, laughing, dancing and enjoying quality time with his family and friends.

Family and friends may visit Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd., on Saturday May 17^th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.  A funeral service will be at the funeral home at 8 PM on Saturday.
