Obituary of Libu Joseph

Libu Joseph, 36 years old, passed away on May 19th, 2025, at his home in Sayreville, NJ. He was a loving husband to his wife, Gitu Kottarathil, a great father to his son, Ishan Joseph, a dutiful son to his parents, Mercy Joseph and Joseph C John, a caring brother to his sisters Liya Joseph, Lisha Joseph, Linju Joseph, and Leema Joseph, an amazing brother-in-law to Jai Joy, Libin Pappachan, Tom Joseph, and Subin Moni and an incredible uncle to his nieces Joanne Joy, Miriam Joy, and Serah Libin. He was the son-in-law of Kochurani Kottarathil and late George Kottarathil and a wonderful brother-in-law to Gintu James and Anil James. He was also an amazing friend, who always enjoyed having a good time with them. 

  Libu Joseph was born on May 30th, 1988, in the city of Edakkara, Kerala, India. He held a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Cauvery College of Nursing, Mysore, and he did his schooling in SVHSS, Palemad, Kerala, India. He had great memories of his childhood, and he always cherished his hometown and Parish. Following a period of 23 years in his hometown, he migrated with his family to the United States of America in January of 2011. He was an exceptional dialysis Registered Nurse who was passionate about his work. He was working at South Brooklyn Health Hospital, Coney Island, and Montefiore Hospital, Bronx. He was a great poet, artist and a talented singer who loved to explore every bit of it. He was an avid reader and enjoyed collecting books of his favorite authors. He was a Motorcycle enthusiast who enjoyed riding his Ducati and a big fan and a great player of soccer and cricket. He was also a lover of movies who loved to explore different genres of cinema. He was well rounded with knowledge and made sure he was up to date with it. He also enjoyed having formal debates. His favorite things to do were spending time with his son and wife and making memories with them. 

 

A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again. Libu will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched. May he rest in peace

 

The viewing will be held at Matthew Funeral Home on 5/21/2025, Wednesday 5pm -9pm located at 2508 Victory Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10314. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on 5/22/2025, Thursday at 10 am at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church (Blessed Kunjachan Syro Malabar Mission) located at 466 Tompkins Ave, Staten Island, NY 10305, followed by the burial services at Fairview Cemetery located at 1852 Victory Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10314.
