Obituary of Rosanne Denaro
Rosanne was born on January 5, 1948 in Newark, New Jersey. Her family moved to Staten Island in the early 1950’s. She attended St. John’s Villa Academy grammar school and high school. Upon graduation she attended Berkely College. Her first employment was with an advertising firm as a secretary. Her high school friend persuaded her to apply to IBM for employment, and she succeeded. She started as a secretary, was promoted to an accounts receivable position, then a manager, a second line manager and divisional operations manager. She had over 250 IBM employees reporting to her as a manager, and she managed a multibillion dollar budget at the midtown Manhattan Branch of IBM.
She was always generous with her time starting with polishing the floors at St. John’s Villa to being a high school summer monitor for its day camp. Rosanne loved politics. She contributed her time to local, congressional and presidential elections. Her favorite charity was Staten Island Community Services Friendship Clubs where she served on the Board of Directors and as Corresponding Secretary. She loved seniors. Always available to help was her way of life.
Ro never believed in 100%. When a task was completed, she would go back to the beginning to check again to make sure it was perfect.
Having parties was one of her favorites. She had family and friends for Christmas and Easter dinners. She loved to cook, and her best dishes were lasagna, stuffed zucchini and stuffed mushrooms. Decorating the house for holidays was her passion.
Probably the most important thing in her life was family and friends. She helped with many illnesses for family and friends. Friendship meant the world to her. Once she became your friend it was usually for life.
Her second passion was travel. Her friends traveled to Europe immediately after high school graduation, and then several cruises. She imparted the travel bug to her parents, husband and in-laws. She honeymooned with a cruise to the Caribbean infecting her husband with the travel bug. There were over a hundred trips with family and friends which created a lifetime of memories.
She is leaving behind her husband of almost 50 years, Gerald Denaro, her grandniece who was and still is the apple of her eye, Olivia Monahan, her sister-in-law who was really a sister, Phillis Monahan and her nephews and nieces, James Monahan, Melissa Monahan, Michael Monahan and Stephanie Monahan.
