Obituary of Genevieve T. Ottomanelli

In Loving Memory of Genevieve "Genni" Ottomanelli
August 6, 1945 – June 17, 2025

Genevieve “Genni” Ottomanelli, a beloved wife, devoted mother and grandmother, cherished sister, and faithful friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Her radiant spirit, deep faith, and unwavering devotion to those she loved leave behind a legacy that will be felt for generations to come.

Genni lived a full and joyful life rooted in love, faith, and family. She was the heart of the Ottomanelli family — married to her best friend and soulmate, Frank Ottomanelli, for nearly 60 beautiful years. This Friday, June 20, would have marked their milestone anniversary, a testament to a lifetime of love and partnership. Together, they built a family grounded in strong values, joyful traditions, and unconditional support.

She was a proud and loving mother to her sons Frank (now reunited with her in peace) and Matthew, and a dedicated mother-in-law to Lisa Mendez Ottomanelli and Roseann Idone Ottomanelli. But perhaps her greatest joy came from her role as “Grandma” to her five treasured grandchildren: Patricia, Kaitlyn, Frank, Sara, and Karissa. Her world revolved around them, and her home was filled with their laughter, memories, and photos that covered every wall.

Genni’s warmth extended beyond her family — she was also a loving sister to her brother Joseph Vesce and a true friend to all who knew her. Her deep faith was central to her life; she and Frank were dedicated members of their church community, where she served as a Sunday lector and he continues to serve as an usher. After Mass, she could often be found enjoying breakfast with her grandchildren at Z-One Restaurant, a tradition that brought her immense joy.

A woman of many passions, Genni loved to travel the world with Frank, cheer for her beloved New York Giants and Mets, bowl with friends, shop with her grandkids, and plan her next cruise adventure. She even attended the Giants’ Super Bowl wins in 2007 and 2011 and made it a tradition to attend the first home game every year with Frank.

She played a key role in running Ottomanelli and Sons Prime Meat Market, handling the business side of things with grace and precision. Through it all, Genni remained a steadfast woman of faith and charity, dedicating her time and energy to the church and to causes close to her heart.

Her loyal dog Sammy, who passed in 2024, was her faithful companion in recent years — and now they are joyfully reunited.

Genni brought sunshine into every room she entered, and her presence will be dearly missed. To honor her lively spirit, the family invites guests to wear a touch of yellow — her favorite color — to the wake service. And when you see a yellow daisy or an angel, let it be a sweet reminder of Genni’s love.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 20, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 PM and 7:00–9:00 PM at Matthews Funeral Home.
The Funeral will be celebrated Saturday, June 21, at 9:30 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church and interment to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Her life was a beautiful example of love, kindness, and faith. She will be forever missed and lovingly remembered
