Obituary of Charles W. MacIver

Charles William MacIver, 74, of Willowbrook, passed away on June 23, 2025, after a courageous three-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Charlie was the beloved husband of Dorothy MacIver (née King) for 48 wonderful years. A devoted father, he is survived by his daughters Danielle Collura and her husband Joseph, and Michelle Valentino and her husband James. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Amanda, Erin, and Dominic Collura, and Caiden and Charlotte Valentino.

Born at St. Vincent’s Hospital on Staten Island, Charlie weighed just 1 pound, 13 ounces—he was a fighter from the very beginning. He was the cherished son of the late Harry Sterling MacIver and the late Gladys Ochs MacIver, and the dear brother of Harry S. MacIver (Ann), Gladys Lee MacIver, and the late Sandra Aromanda.

He was also a treasured son-in-law of Michael F. King and the late Agnes D. King, and a beloved brother-in-law to Michael King (Jean), Kathleen Collura (Mike, deceased), Margaret Sicurella (Salvatore), Colleen Rinaldi (John), Brian King (Debbie), and Mary Riddo (Mike). Charlie is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Charlie attended McKee High School where he studied carpentry. He went on to work as a mason for the New York City Transit Authority, retiring in 2002. Post-retirement, he worked at LaTourette Golf Course, where he combined his love of work with his passion for golf. A dedicated golfer, Charlie had the joy of playing many beautiful courses—including both historic courses at St. Andrews in Scotland, a memorable trip shared with his brother Harry.

Known as a jack-of-all-trades, Charlie could build or repair almost anything. He lovingly completed numerous home improvement projects for his daughters and took pride in helping family whenever needed. He also enjoyed regular trips to Atlantic City with his father-in-law Mike and cherished many vacations, cruises, and European adventures with family and close friends.

Charlie’s life was marked by strength, generosity, and love for those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
