Obituary of Haralambos Karamarios
In Loving Memory of Haralambos Karamarios
September 17, 1929 – June 23, 2025
Haralambos Karamarios, lovingly known as Pappou, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was 95 years old.
Born and raised in Piraeus, Greece, Haralambos lived through the German occupation during World War II. As a teenager, he worked in his father's bakery, where he developed both a strong work ethic and a lifelong sweet tooth.
In his early twenties, Haralambos proudly served alongside U.S. troops in the Korean War as part of the United Nations forces—an experience he treasured for the rest of his life. After returning home, he trained and worked as a dental technician, a profession that reflected his precision and dedication.
He later met the love of his life, Maria, through family friends. Together they built a home filled with warmth, faith, and resilience. They raised two daughters, Chrysoula and Spiridoula, and in the late 1960s, the family immigrated to the United States to seek a brighter future.
In New York City, Haralambos became the proud owner of two restaurants in downtown Manhattan. For more than 30 years, he worked tirelessly, always guided by his belief in the power of hard work, family, and community.
Haralambos found joy in the simple pleasures of life: family gatherings, lively conversations about politics, games of backgammon, and cheering on his beloved Olympiacos—especially with his nephew Harry. He cherished his role as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, always putting his family above all else.
He is survived by his daughter Spiridoula; his sons-in-law, Dean and Panagiotis; his grandchildren, Christos, Maria, Haralambos, and Nikos; and his great-grandchild, Lino. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maria, and his daughter, Chrysoula.
He will be remembered for his strength, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family.
May his memory be eternal.
