Obituary of Carol Fundaro

Carol Jean Elardi Fundaro, 81, passed away peacefully on July 4, surrounded by the love of her family.

Carol was born in Brooklyn and graduated from Lafayette High School. She was happily married to her husband for 46 years and they moved to Staten Island together to raise their family. She was a dedicated mother to her four sons and she was the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren, often taking on babysitting duties and inviting the whole family over for meatballs and Sunday sauce. She was a familiar face in the bleachers at her grandsons’ basketball games and a guiding hand at the table helping her granddaughters with coloring books. She could never pass up chocolate snacks or ice cream, and her chicken cutlets were the best around.

Carol and her sister Josephine (JoJo) were lifelong best friends and remained close until the very end. She also enjoyed her fair share of TV but was a true Days of Our Lives fanatic, and would discuss it almost every day with her sister. As she got older, she enjoyed going for walks, especially with her grandchildren, and playing bingo at the CYO Senior Center with her late sister-in-law Rosie and her good friend Carol. Her house was always a welcome place for the family to gather for Sunday dinner, Knicks games and Jets games.

Carol was the beloved wife of the late Frank S. Fundaro; mother of Frank Fundaro (Desiree), Benjamin Fundaro (Randi), Christian Fundaro, and James Fundaro (fiancée Angy Cen); grandmother of Gabriella Fundaro, Francis Fundaro, Anthony Fundaro, Joseph Fundaro, Paul Fundaro, Christian Fundaro, Matthew Fundaro, Julianne Fundaro, Olivia Fundaro, Allie Fundaro, and Salvatore Fundaro. She was the daughter of the late Bennie Elardi and Rose Elardi, and sister of Frank Elardi and Josephine Warmbier. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and will be loved and missed by all.
