Obituary of Anthony P. Palumbo

Anthony Philip Palumbo Sr., 83, of New Springville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on July 4, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Carmela (Mormile) Palumbo for 60 years; loving father of Christine and her husband Steven Beck, Jennifer and her husband Peter Insalaco, and Anthony and his wife Amanda Turner Palumbo. He was the cherished grandfather of Joseph Anthony Insalaco, Christopher Anthony Beck, Anthony Peter Insalaco, Stephanie Elizabeth Beck, Michael Vincent Insalaco, Anthony Carmelo Palumbo and Alessandro James Palumbo. He is also survived by his brother Michael Palumbo, his sister Angelina and husband Ted Mucci, as well as, his aunts, cousins, sister and brother in-laws, many nieces, and nephews. Anthony was born in Brooklyn, New York and graduated from Lafayette High School and attended college for a short time before joining the United States Army, serving from 1964-1966. After serving in the Army he joined the New York City Fire Department retiring in 1986. He was a longtime bartender at the Homestretch Bar and Grill when he was younger always greeting the patrons with a smile. Anthony enjoyed cooking for his family especially hosting the Feast of the Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve. He was an avid NY Yankees fan but could be caught watching any baseball game on TV. Anthony spent many pleasant afternoons and evenings with his family especially treating his grandchildren to a day out at a restaurant of their choice. He loved to travel with his wife Carmela and their adventures took them to many wonderful places all over the world. Going to Atlantic City on the weekends was one of his favorite pastimes and you could find him sitting at his favorite slot machines for most of the afternoon there. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was known to love to tease and play jokes but most of all, he was loyal and trustworthy to all that loved him.
