Obituary of Loretta Taormina

Loretta Taormina, a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, caring sister, beloved aunt and cherished friend to many, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, at the age of 67.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Loretta embodied the heart and soul of the city she called home. Known for her warmth, resilience, and unwavering strength, she touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Loretta was the very definition of grace under pressure—an unshakable presence, always putting her family first with love and loyalty.

For many years, Loretta worked as a bank teller, where her friendly smile and kind demeanor made a lasting impression on coworkers and customers alike. But her proudest role was within her family. She was the wife of Frank Taormina, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and partnership.

Together, they raised three children—Serafina, Salvatore, and Stephanie—instilling in them the same values of love, hard work, and compassion that Loretta lived by every day. Her love only grew with the arrival of her treasured grandchildren, Michael and Serina, who brought immense joy into her life.

Loretta was loved by all who knew her. Her legacy is one of quiet strength, selfless love, and deep kindness with a strong sense of humor. She will be remembered not only for the way she cared for others, but also for the way she carried herself—with dignity, courage, and an open heart.

She is preceded in death by her father Stephen Proscia and is survived by her mother Gloria Proscia, her sisters, husband, children, sons-in-law, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Family and Friends may gather at the Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd, Staten Island, NY on Wednesday from 1-4 and 6-9 PM.  A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pity on Thursday at 10:30 AM.  Interment to follow at Moravian Cemetery.
