Obituary of Blanche Meaders

 

Blanche Meaders (Stapleton) was born on March 22, 1941 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to the late Inez and Tillman Stapleton Sr.

 

Blanche was raised in West Brighton's Markham Homes Houses and received her education at public school 18 and McKee Vocational High School in Staten Island where she met Richard Meaders.

 

Blanche and Richard were married in July of 1959, and from that union, 4 children were born. Inez, Richard, Blanche and Alex. 

 

Blanche proudly served on the Staten Island Women's Auxiliary and the Women's Island Mediation Center. She also worked various other jobs, including working for UCP as an aid, a Florist Assistant, a Home Health Aid and an assistant to Lawyer Lynn Terralong.  She was also active in the PTA for her children's school from P.S.44 through Port Richmond High School. She took great joy in raising her family spending time with her daughter, Blanche Aponte and her grandkids and great-grandchildren.

 

Blanche was preceded in death by her husband Richard Sr, son Alex, two brothers, Tillman and Donald Stapleton, four sisters, Louise Smith, Barbara Thomas, Jeanette Stapleton and Marilyn Stapleton.

 

On August 23rd 2025, God called her home. Blanche is behind loving memories to be cherished by 2 daughters, Blanch Aponte of Bath P.A, Inez McKinney of Staten Island, Richard Meaders Jr., of Staten Island.   16 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren. And 3 great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
