Obituary of Karen D. Nordman
Karen D. Nordman, 74, of Mariners Harbor, passed away on September 12, 2025. She was the daughter of the late David H. Nordman and Patricia Nordman (nee Hayes) and dear sister of Nancy Sickler, Linda Ring, Steven Nordman, and Megan Nordman. She is also survived by five loving nieces and nephews.
Karen excelled in her studies at Countess Moore High School and received a Regents scholarship for further study. Instead, she chose to start working and enjoyed a long career in both secretarial and administrative positions in many of the top legal firms in Manhattan, including LaMorte Burns, Lord Day and Lord, and Paul Weiss.
Independent, loving, and thoughtful, Karen had a generous spirit and set her heart on finding the perfect gift for loved ones for any occasion. She was an avid baker and enjoyed making every holiday special by baking a wide variety of the most delicious desserts, including amaretto cheesecake, red velvet cake, and gourmet Christmas cookies. She also loved her sweets and kept a supply on hand, ranging from chocolate Lindt truffles to ice cream.
Over the years, Karen loved taking the kids out, whether it was for ice cream, to a Broadway show, down the shore to Lavalette, or a family trip to Disney. She loved having fun and always insisted on treating everyone. Karen also loved to travel, enjoying trips to Las Vegas, Florida, and the Caribbean.
A commemorative service will be held at Matthew’s Funeral home on Thursday, September 18th, from 4 to 7 pm.
