Obituary of Sun Ja Chung

In Loving Memory of Sun Ja Chung

January 5, 1938 -September 16, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Sun Ja Chung, who went to her eternal home peacefully in her sleep on September 16, 2025. Born in 1938,our mother lived a life filled with resilience, love, and laughter. She was a woman of strength who survived the challenges of war, and her journey was one marked by both hardship and triumph.

In 1965, our mother married our father and together, they raised three children. In 1975, our family embarked on a new adventure, relocating to Paraguay, and later, in 1983, we made our home in the United States. Throughout her life, our mother was a devoted wife, mother, always putting her family at the center of everything she did.

Beyond her devotion to family, she was a smart, quick-thinking, and savvy businesswoman. Together with our father, she worked tirelessly in their jewelry business, and it was her sharp mind that contributed to the business’s success and prosperity. Her ability to navigate challenges with grace and humor was a testament to her strength of character.

Though the last few months were difficult for her due to dementia, our mother continued to show her strength and warmth, often smiling through pain. Her spirit remained bright, and her kindness, faith, and love will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Our mother was a devoted Christian who faithfully attended early morning services and Sunday services until her body could no longer support her. Her deep faith was a cornerstone of her life, and her legacy will continue to inspire and uplift us.

Our mother is survived by her two daughters, Diana and Cathy, who will forever cherish the love and wisdom she imparted. While her physical presence will no longer grace us every day, her memory and spirit will live on, carried in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her. A celebration of our mother’s life will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 7 PM at Matthew’s Funeral Home. We invite all those who loved our mother to join us as we honor her remarkable life.

May her memory be a blessing and may her legacy of love, compassion, and faith continue to shine in our hearts.

Her spirit will forever be with us.
