Obituary of Pellegrino Giannatasio

Pellegrino “Danny” Giannatasio, 93, of Graniteville, passed away on September 29, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Marie Montalbano for 67 years, before her passing in September 2023; loving father of Laura Loshiavo (Steve) and Cynthia Goger (Christopher); cherished Poppy of Samantha Loshiavo (Michael Marsdale), Jessica Loshiavo (Mike Sivalls), and Stephen Loshiavo (Nicole); treasured great grandfather of Warren Michael Marsdale.

Danny was born and raised on Staten Island, NY. In 1951 he joined the Air Force and upon his discharge he met the love of his life on a blind date. The couple was married in 1956. Danny worked as an orderly at Willowbrook State School and managed the Hawks Nest at Wagner College. In 1962 he joined the FDNY, working at Engine 6 before transferring to Engine 157, from which he retired. Danny was an excellent cook, who loved to prepare meals for his entire extended family. He enjoyed gardening, reading, and was an avid senior bowler.

Family and friends may visit the Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd on Thursday from 2-6 PM with at service at the funeral home at 5 PM.
