Obituary of Irene E. Blanchard

Irene Elizabeth Blanchard, 96, of Mariners Harbor, passed away on October 1, 2025. She was the beloved wife of late Eugene (Tunney) Blanchard; loving mother of Bruce, Brian (late Rose-Emy), and Douglas (Angela); cherished grandmother to four grandchildren; great grandmother to six great grandchildren; dear sister of Veronica Schmitt (late George). She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Irene was born and raised in Port Richmond, Staten Island, NY and graduated from McKee High School. Her very first job was selling movie tickets at various theatres on Staten Island. She also sold Avon as a side job, she then went on to have a long-standing career employed by the State of New York as a food service worker, which she retired from.

Following her retirement, Irene attended the Senior Center (Port Richmond Chapter), where she really enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She looked forward to her annual trips the Center took to Upstate New York accompanied by her niece. Her hobbies included spending weekends in Atlantic City, going to yard sales and the Home Shopping Network. She had an incredibly great sense of humor. She recently celebrated her 96th birthday in June with a party surrounded by all her loved ones.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday October 11th at Holy Family Church, 366 Watchogue Road at 11am.
