Obituary of Barbara Ann Chicola

Barbara Ann Chicola (nee Scellato, 82, of Westerleigh, formerly of Tompkinsville, Sunnyside and Germany, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas (Nicky) S. Chicola Jr. for 52 years; loving mother of Lisa Ann Brooks and Dawn Chicola-Nobriga; dear mother-in-law of David Brooks, Christie Nobriga and Gabriella Liotta; fond grandmother of Deanna, Nicholas, Kara, Sean, Olivia and the late Victoria; proud great-grandmother of Theo and Liam; cherished sister of Frank Scellato. She was also a beloved aunt and friend to many. Mrs. Chicola was a graduate of Curtis High School. She attended Wilfred Beauty Academy. Some of her hobbies included shopping, traveling, visiting Atlantic City and spending time with family and friends. She was a hairstylist, owning two salons for over 50 years – Victory Hairstylist and Sisters II. In addition, she also owned Barbara's Sweet Shoppe. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., on Saturday, October 11, departing at 9:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Teresa's R.C. Church at 9:30 am. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. Visitation at the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday, October 10, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
