Obituary of Edward Krippa
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Edward Krippa, 91, on October 24, 2025. He was born on July 30,1934, Mariners Harbor, Staten Island, to Edwin and Martha Krippa, (nee Kopcha). He graduated from Port Richmond High School in 1952 and was a proud lifelong resident of Mariners Harbor and Port Richmond.
Edward was a member of Carpenters Union Local 20 and worked for many years as a glazier with Staten Island Plate Glass. He contributed to numerous projects, including the renovation of the Statue of Liberty's crown and torch - a point of great pride for him.
Edward loved taking drives to upstate New York, especially to visit the sights and restaurants in New Paltz. He also enjoyed browsing flea markets in New Jersey and taking long walks at Clove Lakes Park. A devoted college football fan, he was also a regular at Denino's, Schaeffer's and Jimmy Max.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Martha and his eldest son Edward Krippa, Jr.; his brothers Michael, William, Pete, and Walter Krippa; and sisters Sophie and Elizabeth Krippa, Alice Griffiths, Vera Sohmer, Olga Anson, and Helen Delbagno.
Edward is survived by his daughter Karen Cheski and her husband Ted; his sons, Peter and his girlfriend Mariam Fischer; Douglas and his wife Lisa; and Kevin and his wife Robin.
He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Nicole Krippa, Joseph Anarumo and his wife Carla; Philip Anarumo, Jr; Andrew Krippa and his wife Shanel; Jessica Krippa; and Kevin Krippa, Jr. His great-grandchildren include Mathew Anarumo, Christopher Roman, Phyllis Krippa, and Andrea Krippa.
Edward will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
Visitation at the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Wednesday, 10/29, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. A Funeral Service is scheduled at 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
