Obituary of Ann Lucille Montefusco

Lucille Montefusco, beloved mother, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend, passed away surrounded by love and family. Born and raised in Little Italy, New York City, Lucille carried her Italian heritage with deep pride and joy throughout her life.

Lucille was the devoted daughter of Rachelle “May” Shea, a strong single mother who raised Lucille and her brother John with love and resilience. She graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1956 and went on to build a life filled with music, laughter, and movement.

She had the voice of an angel — her love of opera and singing could fill a room — and she was never one to sit still when music was playing. Whether she was dancing, ice skating, or roller skating, Lucille’s energy and joy were contagious. She also had a passion for staying active and cherished the feeling of strength and vitality that came from working out.

Lucille was preceded in death by her mother Rachelle “May” Shea in 1987, her beloved husband Joe in 2004, and her brother John in 2016. She is survived by her cherished son, Joseph, who was the light of her life; her niece Michelle and nephew John; her four great-nephews; and her dear sister-in-law Julie, who was always by her side.

Above all, Lucille loved being Joseph’s mom. Some of her happiest moments were spent taking him into the city, showing him where she grew up, and sharing the stories and traditions that shaped their family. She never missed a family function, and her warmth, laughter, and dancing spirit made every gathering brighter.

Lucille’s life was a beautiful song — full of strength, love, and melody — and her memory will live on in every note, every laugh, and every story told by those who loved her most.
