Obituary of Horace D. Barriffe

Horace Douglas Barriffe 85, of Granite Ave. Staten Island passed away on November 8^th, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Jeniffer Barriffe for 49 years; loving father of Elaine Barriffe-Clementson, Laxey Barriffe, Stafford Barriffe and stepchildren Mavalyn Hussey and Curtis Facey. He was the cherished grandfather of 12 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Horace was born on April 29^th, 1940 in Grant Town St. Mary, Jamaica West Indies and attended Mason Hall Primary School in his childhood years. He was the second child of nine siblings. He was a mason by trade, a skill he was taught by his uncle. Horace was a kind and gentle soul, who enjoyed walks to the supermarket to meet new people and scope for deals. Horace was an excellent cook, who was known for his “Saturday Soup” and fried dumplings. His other hobbies included playing dominoes, solitaire on the computer, and taking road trips with family and friends. 

Visitation at the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday, 11/14, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.  A Funeral Service is scheduled for 10 AM on Saturday, at the Funeral home, followed by interment at Ocean View Cemetery.
