Obituary

Mary P. Thomas (Marykutty) was born on August 28, 1946 to the late Skariah

Varughese and Mariamma Skariah of Kuzhimattom, (Kottayam) Kerala, India.

Marykutty was known for her warm heart, kind and fierce spirit, unwavering strength

and devotion to all she loved. She touched the lives of everyone she met with her

generosity, and created a lifetime of memories that her loved ones will cherish

forever.

Marykutty lived a life grounded in faith. A strong believer, she placed God at the

center of everything she did, never doubting His abundant mercy. She was a

contributing member to St. Baselious Orthodox Church of Brooklyn.

Her qualities guided her through many years as a nurse, where she cared for

countless patients with compassion, empathy and advocacy. Marykutty graduated

from Patna Medical College Hospital in Bihar, India. She started her career at

Kolenchery Hospital in Kerala and later worked for many years at Brooklyn Jewish

Interfaith Medical Center and St. Elizabeth Ann Rehabilitation Center.

Above all else, Marykutty lived for her beloved husband, Oommen P. Thomas, her

son Jaison, her deepest joy, her daughter-in-law Tina, and their children Christopher

and Sophia—her heart’s greatest treasure. She poured every bit of love, strength,

and purpose into her family.

Marykutty’s legacy of love, faith, and service will continue on in all who were

touched by her life.
