Obituary of Toni Ann Loiacono

Toni Ann Loiacono of Westerleigh died Sunday afternoon in Staten Island University Hospital surrounded by family. A life-long Staten Islander, Toni Ann was born on February 14, 1948 in New Brighton. She met her cherished husband, Frank, in 1967. Last year, they celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary.

Toni Ann attended Our Lady of Good Counsel and St. Peter’s Girls High School. She was trained in infant care at the New York Foundling. She worked for forty-four years as an Infant Care Technician at Richmond University Medical Center. With her characteristic kindness and love, she gave comfort and care to innumerable mothers and babies throughout her career. She retired in 2013 to care for her husband.

Toni Ann is predeceased by her parents, Grace and Anthony Funicello, best friend, Barbara Loiacono, and her husband, Frank. She is survived by her beloved daughters, Grace Loiacono and Laura Loiacono, and her dear rescue dogs, Blue and Roscoe. She is also survived by her sisters, Theresa Lauria and Mary Ann Wein, cousin, Grace Ryan, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She touched everyone she knew with her kind and loving spirit and she will be dearly missed by all.

Toni Ann had an enduring love of animals, especially rescue dogs. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Toni Ann’s name to Animal Care Centers of New York. https://www.nycacc.org/
