Obituary of Louise Ruggiero
Louise "Lou" Ruggiero, a cherished pillar of the Dongan Hills community in Staten Island, peacefully passed away on November 21, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family. Born on January 1, 1929, in the same Staten Island neighborhood she would eventually become a beacon of warmth and generosity, Lou's life was marked by her unwavering kindness and the joy she brought to others.
Lou was the loving wife of the late Jerry Ruggiero, with whom she shared a beautiful and enduring love story. Together, they created a family that would be her pride and joy. She was a devoted mother to James and his wife Annmarie, Jerry and his wife Lori, and Luanne and her husband Jack. Lou's role as Grandma was one she cherished deeply, guiding and loving her grandchildren Janine and her husband Dan, Nick and his wife Lydia, Chris and his wife Stephanie, Gregory and his wife Daniella, Danielle and her husband Matt, Matthew and his wife Gianna, and James Adesman. She also embraced her role as Great Grandma to Brandon, Benjamin, CJ, Scarlett, Aurora, Leo, and Alex, each of whom brought an immense amount of happiness into her life.
Family was the cornerstone of Lou's world, including her beloved niece Patricia and her husband Ed, and family ,nephew Nicholas and his wife Lisa and family. Her life was enriched by many loving friends whose lives she touched with her generous spirit and infectious laughter.
A devout Christian, Lou lived by the words of Mother Teresa, "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." This quote was a testament to the way Lou lived her life, doing small things for her family and friends that, in turn, made a great impact on their lives.
Lou had a zest for life that was contagious. She enjoyed the simple pleasures, such as trips to Atlantic City and Wildwood, New Jersey, where she shared countless memories with family and friends. Her love for these places was more about the company and the laughter shared than the destinations themselves.
As we bid farewell to Louise Ruggiero, we are reminded of the love and light she brought into this world. Her legacy of love, family, and friendship will continue to live on through the stories shared by those who knew her best. Lou's memory will be carried in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Lou's life story is one of love, dedication, and the joy of giving. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever be a guiding light to all who were blessed to know her. As we reflect on her life, we take comfort in knowing that Lou is now at peace, and her love continues to surround us even in her absence.
