Obituary of Maletira B. Thimmaiah

Maletira B. Thimmaiah, Esquire, a distinguished attorney and beloved patriarch, passed away peacefully on the 22nd of November 2025 at the age of eighty-three, in the presence of his loving family.

Born on the 19th of August 1942 in Somwarpet, Karnataka, India, Thimmaiah carried the quiet strength and dignity of his Coorg heritage throughout his life. In 1976 he immigrated to the United States, settling on Staten Island, New York, where he built a new home and a remarkable life from the ground up.

A brilliant and principled lawyer, he founded his own civil law practice and served the community with unwavering integrity for more than thirty years. Known for his sharp intellect, unflinching candor, and tireless work ethic, he was as generous with his legal expertise as he was with his time—quietly guiding countless friends and family members through life’s complexities with the same care he gave his clients.

Beyond the courtroom, Thimmaiah was a skilled carpenter, an avid gardener, and a master of home renovation. He found deep joy in working with his hands, transforming wood and soil into things of beauty and function that will endure for generations.

He is survived by his devoted wife of many decades, Chondu; his sons, Pavan and Ashvin; and a wide circle of family and friends whose lives he touched with his wisdom, humor, and quiet generosity.

Thimmaiah lived a life of purpose, principle, and love. He will be remembered as a man who built—not only homes and a successful practice—but an enduring legacy of integrity and kindness.

He is now at peace, his work complete, his family forever proud to carry his name.
