Obituary of Frederick J. Grimaldi

Frederick J. Grimaldi, 76, of Sunset Hill passed away on Monday November 24th. Born on December 3, 1948, in Gravesend Brooklyn, Fred lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and service to his country.

He graduated from Grady High School and was a proud veteran of the United States Army, Fred served honorably in Germany during the Vietnam War era. He began working alongside his father as a skilled mason. Later, he dedicated many years to the New York City Transit Authority before retiring.

Fred was a man of integrity and strength, always putting family first. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Ann Marie (DeNora), his two cherished children, Christine Gambardella (Peter) and Ralph Grimaldi (Lauren), and his loving sister, Jeanette D’Anna. He had 5 grandchildren Ralphie, Anthony, Frankie, Madeline and Adriana.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and Ralph Grimaldi, and his brother, Vincent.

Fred’s legacy lives on through the love he shared and the values he instilled in those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd. on Saturday, 11/29/2025, departing at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass will be held in Holy Family Church at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Friday, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM.
