Obituary of Elsa Merola

Elsa Merola was born on May 10th, 1933 in Padula, Salerno, Italy. She unexpectedly passed away peacefully on December 3rd, 2025. She was the daughter of Raffaele and Ermelinda Mugno. She was the beloved sister to Rosetta, Antonio, Amelia and Amedeo Mugno. On February 18TH, 1954, Elsa married the love of her life …. Joseph Merola, Sr. Their marriage took place at the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary in Pompeii, Italy, which was her lifelong dream. On September 15th, 1954 they embarked immigrating to Brooklyn, New York. Their journey was marked by love and dedication and welcomed their first born Margherita Merola in October, 1954. They continue to expand their family with Michael, Linda, Ralph, Joseph, Jr., and Christopher Merola. Elsa was preceded in death by her sons Michael, Christopher, as well as her daughter Linda Merola. She was a remarkable matriarch, embodying strength and resilience throughout her life. Her legacy lives on through her 16 beautiful grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was a devoted believer, offering her prayers daily to the Blessed Mother of Pompeii and Padre Pio. A passionate cook and an avid crocheter, Elsa cherished the moments spent with her family, creating memories, that will last a lifetime. We take comfort in knowing that she is now reunited in heaven with her husband, her beloved children, and her cherished grandson, Anthony. Details regarding the funeral service will be shared with family and friends. In honor of Elsa's memory, we invite all who knew and loved her to celebrate her life and the love she shared.
