Obituary of Kenneth J. Olsen

Kenneth James Olsen, 59, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and faithful servant of his community, passed away surrounded by the family he cherished. Born and raised in Staten Island, New York, Kenneth carried the spirit of his hometown with him wherever he went; steady, loyal, and full of heart.

For 38 beautiful years, Kenneth was married to the love of his life, a partnership built on unwavering devotion, laughter, and deep friendship. Together they raised three wonderful daughters, who were the joy of his life, and his heart grew even fuller when he became a grandfather to his precious granddaughter.

Kenneth lived his faith as a devoted Catholic, finding strength, peace, and purpose in his commitment to God. That same dedication guided him through a lifetime of service. As a 9/11 first responder and a correction officer for 20 years, he showed courage, steadiness, and compassion in some of the hardest moments and places. His family and the many people whose lives he touched will forever remember his bravery and quiet integrity.

Outside of work, Kenneth found joy in the simple, beautiful things: avid fisherman , shaping wood with skilled and patient hands, baking treats to share, and talking excitedly about his beloved '78 Novas. His passions were reflections of who he was: creative, meticulous, joyful, and always ready to give a piece of himself to others.

Kenneth's legacy is one of love, service, faith, and family. He will be deeply missed, yet his spirit lives on in every story told, every craft he created, and every heart he held close. May he rest in eternal peace.

Service time for Kenneth will be held at Matthew's Funeral Home, Friday, December 5th, 2025 from 5pm - 9pm.
