Obituary of Leonard J. Jones

It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of our loving Dad, Leonard (Lenny) J. Jones, who left us peacefully on December 10, 2025, at the age of 88. Born in Brooklyn, NY on June 25, 1937, Lenny served his country in the Army with an Honorable Discharge in 1957. In 1963 Lenny married his beloved, Nancy (Chianese) Jones, often claiming it was the best decision he ever made. Together they lived and raised their family on Staten Island NY until 2019, when they moved to Danbury CT to be near their children and grandchildren. Lenny worked tirelessly to care and provide for his wife and three girls. He was a devoted and loyal husband, father, friend and neighbor. Lenny cherished time with his family and friends, sharing stories, and offering his assistance wherever there was a need. In retirement, Lenny was an active volunteer at St. Roch's Church and local food pantries. Lenny is survived by his three daughters, Lisa Jones Hanratty (Robert Stein), Regina Van Blenis (Michael) and Tara Lendener (Michael) along with his eight loving grandchildren that he adored. Lenny is preceded in death by his wife Nancy Jones. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd, Staten Island, beginning at 8:30 am. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 am at St. Roch's Church, 602 Richmond Ave., Staten Island. Loved ones and friends are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a veteran's organization of your choice in his honor. Recognizing and caring for veterans was a cause very dear to him. Lenny will remain forever in our hearts, and his love and legacy will continue to guide us.
